According to the Iranian News Agency, Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian spoke by telephone with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and discussed the latest situation in the Middle East.
During the conversation, the Iranian president said that he contacted the Emir of Qatar in a timely manner to clarify that yesterday’s incident was a response to the direct and public participation of the United States in the Israeli attack on Iran.
He made it clear that this incident should not be interpreted as any hostility towards a brotherly and neighboring country like Qatar.
The Iranian president added that the Iranian government and people are fully aware of Qatar’s friendly and brotherly stance and are grateful for its support and solidarity, especially in difficult times.
