Khalil-ur-Rehman kidnapping for ransom case: 3 criminals including woman sentenced after being found guilty
The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced Amna Urooj, Mamnoon Haider and Zeeshan Qayyum to seven years in prison after being found guilty in the kidnapping for ransom case of playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.
Judge Arshad Javed of the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore delivered the verdict in the case in the presence of the accused.
Amna Urooj and other accused were brought to the court from jail. The court had reserved the verdict last week after the trial was completed.
Khalilur Rehman Qamar was kidnapped for ransom on July 15 last year, and on July 21, the Sundar police registered a case under the provisions of kidnapping and terrorism. During the trial, statements of 17 government witnesses, including Khalilur Rehman Qamar, police officials and bank staff, were recorded.
The case took about 8 months to process, and the High Court had ordered the process to be completed within one month.
