Islamabad: Progress has been made in the JIT investigation into negative propaganda on social media.
According to reliable sources, the JIT has decided to issue arrest warrants for 20 PTI leaders. Despite multiple notices, the PTI leaders did not appear before the JIT. It was decided to issue warrants for non-cooperation in the JIT investigation.
Sources said that the names of Waqas Akram, Hammad Azhar, Zulfi Bukhari, Aun Abbas, Mian Aslam, Firdous Shamim, Taimur Saleem, and Gibran Ilyas are among the leaders who did not cooperate.
Similarly, warrants will also be issued for former Chief Minister Gilgit Khalid Khurshid, Shahbaz Gul, Azhar Mashwani and others. The JIT had sent multiple notices of appearance to PTI leaders. The notices were served at the residences of all the leaders.
Police sources said that Barrister Gohar, Shibli Faraz, Aleema Khan and other leaders have appeared before the JIT. An investigation is being conducted against the PTI leaders for anti-state propaganda.
It should be noted that the JIT headed by the IG Islamabad was formed under Section 30 of the PECA Act 2016 to investigate negative propaganda on social media.
