113 PTI workers arrested in November 26 protest handed over to Islamabad Police on transit remand

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi handed over 113 PTI workers arrested in cases registered over the November 26 protests to Islamabad Police on transit remand.

Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah, while hearing the application of Islamabad Police, granted transit remand of 113 PTI workers. The court has already granted bail to 17 of the 113 accused, but their release was not possible due to cases registered against them in Islamabad.

Islamabad Police took the stand that terrorism cases have been registered against the accused in Kohsar and Tarnol police stations for the November 26 protest, and the police also have important evidence against the accused that they were involved in arson and damage to government property during the November 26 protest.

After arguments from the parties, the court remanded 113 suspects in the custody of Islamabad Police.

PTI lawyer Faisal Malik told the media that after 5 months, Islamabad Police told the court that they suspect that these workers are involved in 8 cases in Islamabad. Islamabad Police does not have any evidence regarding the workers. We requested the court to give us the materials on the basis of which the police wants to take the workers. We requested a copy from Islamabad Police, but that was not provided either.

Lawyer Faisal Malik said that bail has been granted to all the workers in nine cases. Islamabad Police wants to arrest the workers on a baseless request. An attempt is being made to implicate the workers in cases that have nothing to do with them.
